Summary
She thinks of him as a friend. He’s loved her since high school.
She’s holding on to the past. He’s worked hard to overcome his.
Brooks knows better than to fall in love with Jaclyn. She’s a trust fund kid, and he’s from the wrong side of the tracks. Guys like him never end up with girls like her. His head understands the rules. His heart is another story.

Loved her journey of falling in love with Brooks
After finishing Keeper of Her Heart I knew I had to start A Love So True since I wasn't ready to say goodbye to some of the characters yet, was intrigued by Jaclyn's past, and figured I could avoid the risk of forgetting some of the characters' backgrounds from previous stories. It all definitely paid off, and I definitely enjoyed getting to know both Jaclyn and Brooks. My heart definitely went out to him for his unrequited love for her since way back when as well as all the suffering he went through growing up; and in her case, for the pain she went through when losing her past relationship. I liked how the drama came to be, and kinda figured it out a bit before Brooks, but it all definitely had me hooked. I loved Jaclyn's journey of falling in love with Brooks and all he stands for as a Deputy, as well as getting to know her background and how she came to work as a nanny. I loved the chance to visit past characters like Graham and his family as well as Liam. :) Oh, and while it seemed Brooks and Jaclyn went "kissing first, talk about things and their relationship status later", I think it all played out well in the end.
Liz Krane did a great job with this one too, bringing every character to life with her performance. As always, the peeks of having the same narrator for the series is the continuity of the recurring characters' voices, and this one did not disappoint. Now, what pulled me a bit out of the story was the fact that Graham's name sounded like "Gram" most of the time. Also, as a personal note, it took me the first half of the book to associate the name Brooks with the main male character since my brain tends to more easily associate "Brooke" with a female name. Still, in the grand scheme of things, these are kinda minor things (and one's on me) so I still got to enjoy her skills in bringing to life both male and female characters (be them young or old, since I loved Reed and Brooks' uncle), as well as their different emotions (from shock to pain, being emotional, angry or even happy and in love, she nailed all of them).
Overall, a perfect continuation of this Sweet Romance series that can also be enjoyed on its own. However, thanks to my having read two books in a row from the same series, coupled with all the talk about fate, I'm still on the fence about picking up the next book. ~ 4.5 stars
