About this listen
From USA Today and Amazon Charts bestselling author Meghan Quinn, comes a witty take on a romantic comedy classic, My Best Friend's Wedding. Steamy, laugh-out-loud, and full of charm, these two best friends heat up the audio while proving true love might be right in front of you.
Have you ever heard of a man-in-waiting?
Yeah, neither has my best friend's soon-to-be monster-in-law. Ooo, sorry, I meant mother-in-law. Nor has she heard of the term, what the bride wants, the bride gets.
With wedding planning underway and a short timeline, my best friend, Lia, has recruited me to help her battle the snarly beast that is Mrs. Beaver. Not scared at all, I accept the challenge as her man-in-waiting--aka, man of honor--and take matters into my own hands.
The only problem is, with every second we draw closer to the wedding, I'm starting to see my best girl in a different light.
She's always been beautiful to me, but now . . . I find myself staring a touch too long. My hand lingering for one more minute. And when she's upset? Allowing her to sleep in my bed.
And before I know what's happening, it hits me like a ton of bricks. I'm in love with my best friend. Not just in love, but infatuated.
No one compares to her and nothing seems to distract me from that realization.
Not the girl I try to date while I help plan Lia's wedding.
Not her angry fiancé who thinks I'm growing too close.
And not the looming deadline of her nuptials.
Which means, there's only one thing left for me to do. Prove to Lia I'm the one she should be with instead. But with the pressure of her engagement, the stress from her soon-to-be mother-in-law, and the breath-stealing nerves running through me, I'm finding it a lot harder to claim the girl than I would like to admit.
Say a little prayer for me . . .

Hilariously delightful
"We might have underestimated the youngest Cane brother. He comes off all sweet and charming, but I bet you he’s the best in bed out of all of them."
Well, it took a large percentage of the book before we found out the truth of that statement but...holy pickle! He was certainly a dirty-talking, commanding, kinky and possessive lover.
I loved the history between Breaker and Lia. From their first meeting at University to the memories scattered throughout their story, they had been through thick and thin together. Boys and Girls came and went but their friendship remained intact.
Watching Breaker finally realise what Lia meant to him was hilarious, sweet, and sometimes frustrating (because the ex and Breaker's dating drove me nuts). The transformation from friendship to more was difficult for Lia to grasp and I completely adored how patient—mostly—Breaker was about it.
Their date was the stuff dreams are made of.
Their connection was *chef's kiss*.
I really appreciated getting to see more of Huxley, Lottie, JP, Kelsey, Banner and Penn (pleeease can we have their books!?), Myla and Ryot. And the nod to Orson was not missed.
The excitement surrounding the other Cane brothers was the perfect addition to the story. And while this extended crew provided extra entertainment they also helped bring our MC's together, so the epilogue was well thought out and on point.
Their love story—as the title suggests—was a long time coming and oh-so-perfect.
Erin and JF did a phenomenal job with the narration.

Friends to Lovers Perfection
A Long Time Coming is Breaker's story, the third and youngest Cane brother. After loving both Huxley and JP's books I was curious to see how Breaker would differ from his siblings. This book is a friends to lovers romance and Breakers love interest is his best friend Lia. Breaker and Lia have been inseparable as best friends for a decade after meeting at college, the start of the book begins with the start of their friendship and took me a few chapters to get into the feel of the story. After this initial introduction to set the scene, I became invested quickly when Lia gets engaged and reveals the news to Breaker.
There are plenty of laugh out loud moments involved when the future Mother-in-Law is a socialite fixated on status and public perception and Lia isn't the most poised and delicate of brides to be. Thankfully Breaker is there as her Maid of Honour to back her up on getting a little say in how it all goes down on her big day. This premise provided a lot of my favourite moments within the book, both with humour and emotion.
When things finally click for Breaker and he realises he has feelings for his best friend, was a beautifully written scene. Meghan portrayed the moment with so much authenticity and totally captured the essence of that moment. Then what follows this for the remainder of the book is swoon worthy and ERMAGAH steamy hot goodness!!
There wasn't really a gut punch break up Meghan Quinn special in this story just a few hiccups along the way but I think that worked well for Breaker and Lia's story. It was great to have Lottie, Huxley, Kelsey and JP back too, for family dinners and plenty of banter. No-one does sibling conversations quite like Meghan does!!
Another positive about this book was the excellent audio narration by Erin Mallon and JF Harding. Erin I am a fan of and have listened to several of her titles, she is always a joy to listen to, especially in those awkward comedic moments. JF Harding voicing Breaker however, was a new to me voice. All I can say is I hope I get to listen to many, many more novels from him. He narrated Breakers character perfectly! He was so endearing and then at the same time the loveable hero we all crave from a good romance. One scene in particular where Breaker gives Lia some instructions as advice was very pleasing on the ear *wink wink*
Overall a fantastic addition to Meghan Quinn's repertoire and one I would revisit and recommend. A Long Time Coming has all the elements you need to tick off those friends to lovers trope boxes, check, check and check.

What a great story!!
Looking for a funny, friends to lovers romance? You have found the right book! Meghan Quinn's A Long Time Coming will fulfill your need! This fabulous story features Breaker and Lia had an instant connection when the met at a Scrabble club in college. Best friends for years, they can finish each other's sentences they know each other so well. But now life is about to change. A surprise engagement and quick planned wedding is now in play. As her man of honor, Breaker is sensitive to what Lia loves, and her mother-in-law to be is not the least bit interested. As things continue, Breaker realizes that Brian is not the man for her, but he is. Will Lia make the same realization? This is the kind of story that will make you love and laugh! Breaker is quite the man. His attentiveness to detail is extraordinary and he wears his feelings on his sleeve. Add in the alpha tendencies and he is the perfect man! Lia is quirky. She knows what she likes, but as a people pleaser does not initially speak up for herself. But when she does, look out! With family interaction from the other Cane brothers I love, their significant others, an infuriating mother-in-law to be and a spineless finace, this story flies by! Complete entertainment for my ears!
JF Harding and Erin Mallon give a duet narration for this funny, romantic story. It's full of humor with spot on comedic timing. Harding plays the perfect man with a voice that melts my heart. He adds just enough emotion to make Breaker so real! Mallon knows how to play a quirky Lia and easily falls into her character with the charm she has. I loved this collaboration and was happy to listen to it!

Have loved this series, but this was my favourite!
The whole series has been brilliant, but Breaker and Lia’s story was just so touching and funny and hot - that bathroom scene 🤪 !!! It was lovely to see how the brother’s relationships were going too. The narrators were fabulous too - Erin Mallon is my absolute fave! Highly recommended!

One of my favorite Meghan Quinn Books
Five stars!
This book is the perfect example of why I listen to Meghan Quinn books. Lia is one of my favorite heroines ever and Breaker is for sure my favorite of the brothers in this series.
My favorite thing about this book is the way they really cared for each other. Always backing each other up, sticking up for each other and really taking the time to be friends.
This book also brought plenty of steam and the humor you expect from MQ.
Narration by Erin Mallon and JF Harding is fantastic. JF harding is a new favorite.

Sweet Friends to Lovers Romance!
This is the third book in the Cane Brothers Series, a Romantic Comedy. I love the Cane Brothers! I loved Ophelia/Lia and Breaker's sweet friends to lovers and slow burn romance. Breaker is very handsome, and supportive. Lia is beautiful, kind, and smart. They are perfect together. The storyline is entertaining, funny, and heartwarming. Some scenes are hilarious! Outstanding narration from Erin Mallon and JF Harding. I enjoyed it.

Breaker freaking Cane!
Oh, Mylanta this book is EVERYTHING. I am pretty sure I’ve said that about a few Meghan Quinn books over the years but this one, this one really hit home.
Lia and Breaker meet in college, that night they instantly become best friends. They have an instant connection that is so pure, and so unbelievably perfect.
Lia is so sassy, fun, and quirky - what was not to love about her? She never held any punches when it came to Breaker – the pervert mustache banter had me in tears.
Breaker is the perfect book boyfriend. He’s by my favorite Cane brother. He was so protective of Lia, challenged her, and oh so charming.
A Long Time Coming brought back a lot of fun characters that we’ve met through the years – My favorite surprisingly enough was Myla. The reprise of Myla made me see he a lot differently than I did in Untying the Knot – I no longer want to throat punch her.
The audio – Erin Mallon and J.F. Harding played off each other so well – this duet had me in stitches. Erin ‘s comedic timing is always spot on and a pleasure to listen to – come on she can read me the dictionary and I would hang on to every word.
J.F. was the huge surprise here – I had never heard him in a romcom – it was a very pleasant surprise.
This book was so much fun, so heartfelt, so swoony and romantic. I loved the banter, the wit and all the fun little things that make it a Meghan Quinn romcom. (Which means super slow burn with holy dry hump heaven!)

A great end to the trilogy
Excellent book; so glad I listened to this after not being too impressed with JP and Kelsey’s! The story was sweet, funny and sexy. The performances were also brilliant; a very well done production!
