About this listen

Blood slave to courtier of the Winter fae... you'd think I'd moved up. I'm not so sure.

The auction block awaits, and a vicious vampire prince wants me and what flows through my veins. So I make a run for it, only to end up falling at the feet of a fae warden.

Technically, Roar, the Warden of the West, should return me to the vampire court, but he has other ideas. He needs a fake fiancée.

The deal: if I play his dutiful partner at the Winter Court and help him trick the cold King of Winter, Roar will hide me from the blood-suckers intent on draining the life from me.

I agree, and for a while, it seems like nothing can go wrong. That is until Vale, Warden Roar's nemesis, sets his sights on me. A part of me likes the warrior prince's attention. Luckily, the more sane part knows Prince Vale is not a fae to mess with.

Besides, I can't dissolve my contract with Warden Roar. To do so would bring down the ire of the king and ruin my chances of earning my freedom. So I do my best to keep Roar and Vale from each other's throats, all the while convincing the Winter Court of my love for Roar.

It's official: I'm a part of the deadly game of noble houses, and losing could cost me everything.

If you like the political intrigue of Game of Thrones and the found family aspect and romances of ACOTAR, you'll love this romantic fantasy.

We first met Neve, briefly, in the sister series 'Coven of Shadows and Secrets' in book 5. It was fantastic to now read her full story, and wow, what a story she's had so far!💥

It all starts to fully unfold once Neve finds herself in the winter kingdom, after a hair-raising and daring escape from the Vampire's Court, and their Kingdom.🩸🙏🏼 She finds herself within the Winter Kingdom, under the care of Roar, the Warden of the West. He strikes a bargain with her, which sees her joining him at the Winter Court, staying in the royal castle during a 'courting festival'. (I must admit that I'm not a fan of her betrothed.)

I absolutely love Neve. Anna, her bestie from the vampire court, and Clemencia, her lady-in-waiting, as they are both so kind and loyal.😍 Princess Saga, Siyyida, and the youngest prince seem like true friends in the making as well.🤞

I thought my heart was going to stop when an unexpected guest arrived at the palace! Also, the brutality, and pleasure thats taken from it, by some of the Fae, rivals where she escaped from, just in different ways.😳

There is so much excitement, intrigue, and court manoeuvring going on, plus the possibility of romances, that this is an edge of your seat read!😎 My only niggle was the journey to the Palace. If that journey was cut shorter, I'd have easily given this book 5 stars, because the story is full of such great complex magical systems, world building, kingdoms, rivalries, enemies, and allies, it deserves it.⭐️

This was an enjoyable audiobook.👍
