Summary
Don’t miss Faith Martin’s fiendishly clever new novel, Murder by Candlelight, set in the 1920s and described as ‘the perfect village mystery’ by J.M. Hall
‘A beautifully crafted crime mystery I could not put down.’ Anita Davison, author of the Flora Maguire series
Oxford, 1960. As the city of Oxford prepares itself for the inaugural Miss Oxford Honey Beauty Pageant at The Old Swan Theatre, excitement is in the air.
Then, tragedy strikes the competition when one of the leading contestants is found dead.
Initially, the authorities assume her death was suicide. But after a malicious series of pranks and blackmail attempts are reported, WPC Loveday and Coroner Clement Ryder are called upon to solve the case.
In an atmosphere of fierce competition, the list of suspects is endless. Could what have started as harmless fun become a deadly race to win the prize?
With time running out, the duo need to spot the killer before tragedy strikes again…
A gripping cosy crime novel, perfect for fans of Agatha Christie, Richard Osman and M.C. Beaton.
‘Absolutely loved it… The characters were some of the best I’ve read in a long time.’ Angela Marsons, no. 1 bestselling author of the Kim Stone series

A Good Book
This is the third in the series. I would firstly say go back and start with part one. They could be listened to out of order. But best start at the beginning A Fatal Obsession. that said they are all well written, if at times a little silly and far fetched. But to me that added to the charm of these easy to listen tales. All of which I have enjoyed thoroughly. Stephanie Racine does a great job narrating the stories. I ploughed my way through all three downloading the next straight after finishing one. I recommend highly.

Brilliant! Just Brilliant!
Don’t start with this book, because you won’t appreciate just how good it really is!
Fatal Obsession will get you into the mindset of this group of characters - whom you will absolutely adore - and their real life interactions.
This is a very cleverly written story. The plots that this author creates are the best. Not pedestrian at all. I have read the first 3 books back to back and as there are only 7 written thus far, I’m taking a break, otherwise they would be over waaay too soon!

Unique storyline
This is another great plot from Faith Martin. The characters are believable, and all have a place in the story. Brilliantly performed.

Guessed murderer very early on.
Not as well written as previous two in the series. Thin plot with a lot of repetition. In all three books the author seems to describe the women too much by their size with negative connotations for any that are larger.
