About this listen

British comedy actor and star of The Fast Show, Down The Line and Bellamy's People, Simon Day showcases various characters in half-hour comedies set around a fictional small provincial theatre.

In each episode, one of Simon's characters come to perform at The Mallard, a small provincial theatre somewhere in the UK. We hear the highlights of that night's show, along with the back stage and front of house goings on at the theatre itself.

Simon performs as Northern poet Geoffrey Allerton, popular blazered entertainer Tommy Cockles, eco-warrior Dave Angel, reformed violent criminal Tony Beckton, opinionated Billy Bleach, and as himself.

Very funny

The wonderful characters and characterisations make this an enjoyable ride. I look forward to the next. The same one,
but with an extra chapter. 👍

A breath of fresh air

I pre-ordered this book and waited in anticipation of my first listen. I was not let down. Simon has created some fantastic characters that leads into a comedy classic.
