About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Written by number one New York Times best-selling author Marieke Nijkamp, Critical Role: Vox Machina - Kith & Kin follows a brand-new story, featuring the cunning ranger Vex'ahlia and the conning rogue Vax'ildan (and, of course, Trinket) years before they meet Vox Machina.

After leaving the unwelcoming refuge of Syngorn, the twins become entangled in a web spun by the Clasp, and for the first time Vex and Vax find themselves on opposite sides of a conflict that threatens the home they have carried with each other for years.

A perfect sub story for critical role!

After going back and finishing campaign one recently this was perfect for me to dip into.
From campaign 1 to this there is perfect overlap and despite being finished so long ago you would never know; Laura and Liam did an amazing job!
Although it’s a treat for critters I can easily see your average fantasy enjoyer following along and enjoying it regardless of how little they know of the lore.
And of course Robbie did a great job with the story telling and the pacing was really good.

10/10 can’t wait for the next one! :)

a nice and developed preface

great voice acting and unpredictable but cohesive plot that doesn't rely on Easter eggs or change the characters but is compelling and adds to the narrative

Robbies Narration- best I think I’ve ever heard
I’m going to have to read it physically too in case he just carried it too much

.

a good companion piece if you enjoyed the Critical role series, a great entryway into the world if you're not. interesting characters, a fun and serious narrator and a plot that has multiple layers to it.

Viva Vox Machina!!!

I live for good stories! This helped add a few good years to my time! Wandering around Exandria with the twins, learning their origins…as heartbreaking as some of it was, the story was bright and loving! I adore the twins!

Laura Bailey is an amazing voice actor, you feel her voice as if you were standing face to face with Vex. Liam O’Brien has a wonderfully expressive voice, especially for the parts that require sarcasm and teasing. Robbie Daymond’s portrayal of everyone else in the story, was nothing shy of excellent!

I hope there are more audiobooks to come! The Mighty Nein and Bell’s Hells too! Should keep Critical Role out of mischief for a good few years! I’m positive Sam Riegel needs constant attention and things to do! Or he’ll take over the world and I’m terrified of the t-shirts his regime may force upon us all!!! Lawd have mercy!!! 😋

Really enjoyed this book

As a critical role it was great to hear the back story of the twins and trinket, however I think even people who don’t know critical role would enjoy the book with its twists and turns. And as always it was a great performance by the critical role cast.

A must for any CR fan

Vex And Vax are a staple of the series and this gives a great insight into there past. as well as a bit of conflict between the 2 on them.
Great book. Recommended.

Good production, story a little boring.

Robbie is an amazing reader, and Liam and Laura doing Vax and Vexs voices is perfection. But found the story too predictable and a bit slow...
