Enjoyable but not quite Alphabet Squadron
Overall, I enjoyed this book but to begin with it is a marked step down from Alphabet Squadron, the first book in the series.
The story is really enjoyable but the narration does have the colour and quality of the first book. As it progresses I got used to the narration and enjoy the story.
Looking forward the Victory's Price.

Not as good as the first, however...
...The finale has set up an interesting 3rd book.
I absolutely adored Alphabet Squadron and I was really looking forward to this sequel. However even as an audio book I found this a struggle - no standout moments really. We get a little more backstory from each of the characters but nothing blow me away. Too easy to tune out off I'm afraid.
Also didn't appreciate the change in narrator - as the voices all changed. So if you did listen to these back to back it's a little confusing.

story fine. narration was zzzzz
story was fine. not much happened but I'm sure builds up to the 3rd book. sadly this is another review moaning about how "meh" the narration is. I found myself having to re listen to whole chapters as the narrator is just so monotone throughout. very difficult to follow.
if the same narrator is reading book 3, I probably won't buy. which is a shame.

Fantastic squadron book
It's a good book good story and all ,but the narrator of the first book in my opinion was better ,it was and still is a hard thing getting used to the new narrator voice, when the characters voices set by the first narrator is hard coming over they are so different, the new one sounds like a old woman who has had too many cigarettes in her life compared to the younger and smoother sound of saskia who voiced the first book ,hope that in the next that they go back to her as narrator

Shadow Fall, a good next step.
From the first book, where the formation of Alphabet Squadron was formed and after the events of Pandem Nigh (excuse the incorrect spelling) this book takes a new turn by shaking up the roster somewhat.
Without spoilers, the book was excellent, well written and the voice acting was superb, this book (no discredit to the narrator) but the immersion was lost slightly because all the voices sounded the same...
Aiden and ITO were not what I was expecting and honestly wasn't as good voice wise as the last book. But if you can stand the chance in voice narration the book is excellent.

Good story, poor narration
Really enjoyed the first book. And i did enjoy the story here... but i really struggled through it because of the the narrator. Not enough variation; most of the characters sounded the same. Voice felt a bit monosyllabic in places where story needed the opposite. Overall performance was quite weak when compared to other Star Wars audio book narrators. The narrator of the first Alphabet Squadron was a lot better, and varied.

Another brilliant Alphabet novel.
Having read the first book I couldn't wait to listen to this one. I preferred the last voice actor to this one but she does a good job none the less, her voice just didn't suite the characters like the last lady did.
The story picks up at s good point in Alphabets relationship and ends on a fantastic cliffhanger. This series is a must read for fans of star wars in my opinion. it's great!
Looking forward to the final book now!

Alexander Freed donked it out the park
I loved it. Some parts I felt were weaker, some subplots I didn't like all that much but there was nothing I disliked. The tie in with the wider Star Wars universe and with Squadrons the upcoming game, is worth it alone but the series itself has quickly become one of my favourite Star Wars stories.
The new VA took some getting used to, I'd come to just equate Saskia Maarveld with the voice of Yrica Quell, so having her speak in a much more American voice threw me until I got used to it, but that is on me. Carol Monda is an excellent choice and she brings a life to characters that I never thought possible.

A forgettable story
Unfortunately like a lot of the new canon novels, everything feels so inconsequential and limited.
The story is very forgettable and after two books I’m still not really connecting with any of the characters apart from Hera, but this is because of Rebels.
I did like how dramatisation had non Star Wars music as well as the traditional tracks. This is the first time I’ve heard non Star Wars music in an Audible drama and it’s very welcome. Hopefully we’ll start to hear some of the sequel soundtracks in these books soon.
