About this listen

In this essential Star Wars Legends novel, Mace Windu must journey to his long-forgotten homeworld to confront a terrifying mystery with dire personal consequences.

The jungle planet of Haruun Kal, homeworld of the legendary Jedi Master Mace Windu, has become a battleground in the increasing hostilities between the Republic and the renegade Separatist movement. The Jedi Council has sent Depa Billaba - Mace’s former Padawan and fellow Council member - to Haruun Kal to train the local tribesmen as a guerrilla resistance force. But now the Separatists have pulled back, and Depa has not returned. The only clue to her disappearance is a cryptic recording left at the scene of a brutal massacre: a recording that hints of madness and murder and the darkness in the jungle...a recording in Depa’s own voice.

Mace Windu trained Depa. Only he can find her. Only he can learn what has changed her. Only he can stop her. He will leave behind the Republic he serves, the civilization he believes in, everything but his passion for peace and his devotion to his former Padawan. And he will learn the terrible price that must be paid when keepers of the peace are forced to make war....

A good insight into Mace Windu

I listened to this audiobook twice before rating it. It is strongest at the beginning and the twist near the end. The characters are good. For those who love action and are closet jar-heads; this is definitely for you.

very good listen

You definitely see Mace in a different light listening to Shatterpoint with a good background into his roots before becoming a Jedi. The voice acting was good for the most part the only one that spoilt it was the English butler sounding clones other than that definitely recommend

Highly Recommend and OG story

Would highly recommend this regardless of rating . As it’s canon and it is the original legends story of Windu and Bilaba(?) very detailed but it lost me at parts - which maybe my fault. I will give it another listen.

Great insight into Master Windu’s mindset and his abilities. Not as phenomenal as he is made out to be by Stover in ROTS but close. Highly recommend reading this.

A little boring, It ain't mace windu either

I found this to get off to a very slow start, but during the recorded messages of mace windu i was getting annoyed and distracted by the humph and hmmm that the narrator makes in the first 2 parts of the book, i don't know if that is in the original novel but by god it was annoying!!

Also as the story went on, i found Mace windu starting to seem like a dark lord of the sith, seeming to constantly get mad and angry and becoming a bit of a bully, not very jedi like at all!
I don't think the author has understood mace windu very well at all to be writing about him.
One or two of the side characters i found rather annoying too, acting and talking like children,

I found the audiobook a bit of a chore to get through to be honest, but i finished it never the less, for me personally it is one of the more forgettable legends stories and not one i will be going back to, only listen if you are a die hard star wars fan.

The Contradictions of Mace Windu

The story and characters were all alright, other than the fact that Mace sounds more like Zeus Carver in terms of vocabulary and manner of speaking. Also, his surprising lack of discipline and anger shown throughout the novel causes me to become confused when I think of Mace's relationship with Anakin.

It makes him look like a fool for not helping Anakin when he knew that the young man was struggling with similar if not the same problems he dealt with in his life. It's not like Anakin was good at concealing his emotions.

Other than that, everything else was of expected quality.

Really exciting and gripping

A exciting side story which answered a lot of small questions about the Star Wars universe. I enjoyed the amount of detail and the short story at the very end was also a nice touch.

Excellent Book

I've always been a fan of Mace Windu since watching the prequels as a child. I finally got round to giving this book a listen and I wasn't disappointed. I found it very easy to listen to and to stay with the story.

Master Windu - need I say more

Excellent narration and sound mixing for a spectacular listen. Pleasure to know more about what made Windu tick and witness to the source of his legendary power. Sometimes the writing was as dense as the jungle in which it was set, but overall worth the journey.
