About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of 18th Abduction by James Patterson, read by January LaVoy.

The Sunday Times no. 1 bestseller

Three missing women

When three teachers disappear without a trace, Sergeant Lindsay Boxer takes the lead in the investigation. But with no clues and no suspects, the odds of finding the women alive are getting slimmer by the second.

Two impossible cases

Under pressure at work, Lindsay needs support at home. But her husband Joe is drawn into an encounter with a woman who's seen a ghost – a notorious war criminal from her Eastern European home country, walking the streets of San Francisco.

One determined detective

When Joe's informant disappears, the two investigations collide. It will take the combined skills of Lindsay, Joe and the entire Women's Murder Club to protect their city, and themselves, from a monster.

Critic reviews

"Everything you love about Patterson and the Women's Murder Club – smart characters, shocking twists, and a villain so evil you count down to the very last page to discover what will happen next." (Lisa Gardner)

"Absolutely terrific, high octane, really pacy...sets the bar for thrilling reads and this book delivers everything we've come to love in a Patterson novel. Every scene is a film, every character real and every plot point leaves us breathless." (Jo Spain)

great book

I was actually really excited to start this book as I really want it to be but by this offer before but wasn't sure if you could read them as stand-alone but I found out that you can so in this but you've got two cases going on at the same time so our story starts with Anna who notices this man across the street to be the one who murdered her family and who did other things to her and why it's in the US she does not know as she is from a different country what I cannot spell so Joe who is an investigation person I think I forget he official title start looking into to petrovic who is the guy who murdered Anna family and his wife is investigating a disappearance of 3 teachers her name is Lindsay they find one of the teachers dead in a hotel now they need to find the other two this was a really interesting book usually I find it hard remember what's going on with both investigations as I usually don't like that sort of stuff but this one interested me and I assumed that their linked in some way from the beginning

Brilliant

Like another reviewer I agreed that I was a little disappointed with the 17th book but this Womens Murder Club 18th Abduction was absolutely brilliant and gripped me from beginning to end. I must say this is the only James Patterson books I read now and I look forward to the stories and the characters.

The most telling epilogue

I was at first confused over the time line of this, but with the help of the internet, namely Goodreads, sorted my head out! The Epilogue was very revealing and moving and took me back to the Serbian/Bosnian wars and the utter degradations which occurred there. Emotional; it followed on from the info which was gradually revealed in the main story. Thanks for that, although I think the story could have introduced the issue in a clearer way.

Another great Women’s Murder Club

This story was more Lindsey than women’s murder club but it was a great story and I couldn’t stop listening to it. I can’t wait for the next one

Chillingly good!

I really liked this instalment of The Women's Murder Club. Enjoyed every minute of it. Patterson never disappoint! This one was so good I wanted to cry and kept holding my breathe afraid that Satovina would end up dead. It was a good change of scenery to be able to see how was Jo at his former workplace. I did missed the girls but did enjoyed to have a book focused on Jo. Can't wait to start next instalment!
