Thomas Blackthorne is a pseudonym of John Meaney, who writes science fiction and thrillers. Paradox won the Ippy Award and was among the Daily Telegraph Books of the Year, and he's been shortlisted for other awards. His academic background is physics and computer science, including an MSc from Oxford. He's a 3rd dan in shotokan karate, and serious about physical conditioning - despite his age. He learned hypnosis and other aspects of applied psychology from Paul McKenna.
