Throughout the 1990s, during ten years with Benetton Formula Ltd, my teammates and I won twenty-five grands prix and three Formula 1 world championships. Life changing years. On achieving these wonderful ambitions, I then moved to America to work as an on-air host and analyst with both SPEEDVISION, SPEED, NBC, and FOX SPORTS; latterly with MECUM-MOTORTREND. A wonderful second career that has kept me contracted with network television for over twenty-five years. I also work as a narrator of audiobooks, something I enjoy very much indeed. I've now recored eight audiobooks. To say I've been exceedingly blessed where my working life is concerned would be a masterstroke of understatement. I've authored several books to date; the first three of which form a semi-autobiographical trilogy recording my hectic Formula 1 days. The middle of these, The Mechanic's Tale, continues to hold a publishing record: Orion Publishing's best-selling motor racing title. The book has held this record for over twenty-five years. The Mechanic's Tale continues to be Formula 1's most successful title in the long history of this distinguished international sport. Naturally, this pleases me. My fourth title, These Desired Things, is markedly different: a collection of eleven interconnected short stories. Seven years in the writing, and I've loved every minute of it, gently piecing together the differing stories, slowly weaving their connecting threads. I have to say, I'm extremely happy with the end result. My fifth title, A Day at the Races, is different again: a compact work of tiny tales based on the virtues of kindness, love and friendship. The feedback on this, my most recent book, has been especially heartwarming.
