A child of the 70s, Sophie Duffy grew up on a diet of Blue Peter and the Wombles. But it’s not all been fun and games. Over the years she has curated a catalogue of loss but her sense of the world being a good place shines through the heartache. Duffy finds humour and pathos in the mundane and the tragic and is particularly fond of dysfunctional, unconventional families and the complexities of everyday modern life. As part of Creative Writing Matters, Sophie appraises manuscripts, mentors novelists and helps run the Exeter Novel Prize. She lives on the Wirral and also writes under the pseudonym Lizzie Lovell.
