For over a decade, Shawn Tenbrink has served on the front lines of U.S. diplomacy. His career began at Miami University of Ohio with a B.A. in History, followed by a formative stint as a Peace Corps volunteer in the Moroccan Sahara. Living among the mud castles of the High Atlas Mountains, he gained his first immersive experience in the "people-to-people" diplomacy that has since defined his work. After earning a Master of Laws from the University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies, Shawn joined the Department of State. His first posting in Damascus, Syria, during the Arab Spring, served as a professional crucible and provides the foundation for his first book. His subsequent assignments spanned the Middle East and North Africa, including Oman, Morocco, and two tours in Lebanon. Beyond the region, he served in Sydney, Australia, where he met his wife, Tammy. He is currently on a domestic assignment in New York City.
