Born and raised in the Texas Panhandle, Russell Camp is a career public high school educator and small business owner. His grandmother used to say (of the Texas Panhandle), "If you stay long enough to wear out a pair of shoes, you'll never leave." Camp has found that to pretty much be true. He stumbled into writing in 2021 and has published four books since then, with many more ideas for stories still in the works. He is married to his wife of twenty-eight years and they have three adult sons. They also have two dogs, one of which is a pointing breed. He enjoys spending time with his family, bird hunting across the country, and observing the peculiar behaviors of the human species. Camp, who is a Christian, considers his writing adjacent to that genre, although he will often walk a fine line between inspirational and irreverent. Using a folksy writing style, he meets characters and their stories head on- using humor to present them as realistically human and imperfect. Whether he is recounting hilarious stories from his childhood, or weaving a modern parable, Camp toggles between nonfiction and fiction to tell stories that will make you laugh, cry, and ponder.
