Born in India and raised in Nigeria, I attended an Indian school briefly before setting off to experience the charms of British formal education. After completing my schooling in the United Kingdom with a degree in Business Administration from Middlesex University I decided to add another notch to the old belt with an MBA in International Trade from the London Business School. Frankly, I had never planned to end up in the family business. From early on, my mind sought creative outlet through my writing. I finished my first manuscript at an early age. However, my father’s influence inspired me to explore the possibilities of merging creativity and commerce. Today I am grateful for that fateful turn of events. It led to the creation of HSR Entertainment, my labour of love. One of the first projects commissioned by our production company was the season 2 web series Meri Kahani. Being involved in the family business spread over Nigeria, Dubai, UAE and China, keeps my hands full. But HSR Entertainment gives me the avenue to invest in creative minds. It is an unparalleled high. Work surely cuts into my writing time but when the siren call of a story beckons, I can’t help but drop everything and start writing. My maiden book ‘Inside the Heart of Hope’ was a cathartic experience for me. And I have relived the same experience while writing my subsequent books ‘Flying Without Wings’ and ‘Seductive Affair’. Somehow I have come to be known as a romantic writer. However, writing about love, life and hope was never a conscious decision on my part. These themes just naturally attracted me and found expression in my words. Perhaps my life’s tumultuous journey is the cause for that. I had barely been alive for a year when the doctors diagnosed me with a life-threatening heart ailment. Ever since, frequent check ups and multiple major surgeries have been my ‘normal’. And although life has tested my resolve time and again, it has also been very gracious. This love-hate relationship with fate is probably what caused my creative potential to manifest in romantic themes. When the spectre of death roams within sight, an intense appreciation for life is instilled in every fibre of your being. So I try to fill life to the brim. I love to travel, drive supercars and try out new cuisines and I have been lucky to indulge myself to my heart’s content. The gratitude I feel inspires me to do my part to help those I can. These days I find it hard to stay away from my birthplace Chandigarh - The City Beautiful, though work and family often call me home to Lagos, Nigeria, or Dubai, U.A.E, where I spend most of my time.
