Richard Bienvenu was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, got his BA from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, an received and MFA in film production from the University of Southern California where he directed the short film Champions which won the Silver Palm at the Chicago Film Festival. (available for viewing on YouTube). He also received an AA in Theatre from East Los Angeles College where he was also a faculty member. He lived a year in Seville, Spain where he began teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). Later, he lived in Washington State for sixteen years at one point living on 65 acres in an alternative energy home raising vegetables and husbanding farm animals. For ten years he lived in Vancouver, Washington where he produced two CDs of his own music, TONE POEMS (http://amzn.to/1fVmrzP) and AWAKEN THE DREAM (http://amzn.to/1bfeJe0), both available on Amazon. Eventually he returned to New Orleans and continued teaching ESL and was on the faculty at Loyola University. In 2009 he started a blog NotesOnNewOrleans.net as a celebration of the love he has for the city. He released his first book on Kindle, Your Own Personal New Orleans Tour, in 2013.
