Patrick Hardy is founder and CEO of Hytropy Disaster Management™, the largest full-service small business and family disaster management company in the US. A Certified Emergency Manager®, Master Business Continuity Professional®, Certified Risk Manager® and a FEMA Master of Exercise Practitioner® he has extensive experience working in the public, private and non-profit sectors in disaster management from micro-businesses to Fortune 500 companies. In the summer of 2012, he became the youngest person and the first micro-business owner ever to be selected as the National Private Sector Representative to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in Washington D.C. designing a small business disaster framework. Patrick is considered one of the world’s leading expert in small business and family disaster preparedness, having worked with tens of thousands of organizations and families (including High-Net Worth family offices). He has been published in dozens of industry journals and periodicals, as well as popular media outlets such as Today, and Yahoo!. He has been a featured expert on family disaster preparedness on Good Morning America, PA Live!, and NBC and CBS affiliates throughout the US. At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Patrick launched the first mobile app for families and small businesses to create fully customizable disaster plans, including for COVID-19, designing and publishing the first-known customizable plans for families of all types. He presents to organizations worldwide, and is a decorated, award-winning international public speaker, including being one of less than 95 people to earn the “Accredited Speaker™” designation. Patrick is the first small business expert to be appointed as the National Sector Chief for Commercial Facilities for Infragard, the FBI’s public-private partnership. He is also the first small business board member to sit on the US chapter of the ARISE Global network established by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). A long-time volunteer to the American Red Cross, and other disaster non-profits, he worked in sheltering, emergency response, and the Emergency Operations Center. He has been cross trained and certified in HAZMAT, Emergency Communications, Homeland Security Policy, and Terrorism. Patrick began his career in EMS ambulance first response, eventually becoming a visiting instructor to the National EMS Academy’s paramedic program, and wrote the chapters on disaster preparedness, terrorism, and weapons of mass destruction for the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician Textbook.
