Pat Caffrey is a retired forester living in St Marie, Montana. He was raised an air force brat, spending several years in Okinawa and Madrid. He graduated from high school in Glasgow, Montana, then went on to a forestry career, living in Seeley Lake, Montana for 47 years. He likes to tackle unusual activities, such as his books and worldwide travels. He designed and built his own house, mountaineered up to 23,000 feet, and completed two 100 mile footraces. He founded the Snow Joke Half-Marathon in Seeley Lake in 1980, and the Le Grizz 50 Miler at Hungry Horse/Polebridge Montana in 1982, and served as race director of those events for over 30 years. He has three adult children who live positive adventurous lives. On the academic and literary front he has no scientific credentials and has won no awards
