Nancy Saltzman grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, with an older sister and two younger brothers. Saltzman knew from an early age that she wanted to be an educator. Following her successful 32 year career as a teacher and administrator, she wrote a memoir, "Radical Survivor," about her life: how she survived cancer and the loss of her husband and two sons in a small plane crash. Of the book one reviewer wrote, "...an unforgettable journey that will change you forever..." Along with publishing her memoir, Saltzman began sharing her story with audiences nationwide. Using anecdotes (humorous and otherwise), letters, student essays, and excerpts from "Radical Survivor," Saltzman now tells her tale to people of all ages. They listen, laugh, cry, laugh again, and are inspired to overcome the challenges in their own lives. Dr. Saltzman presently lives with her husband and their two dogs, Nacho and Macy, in Colorado Springs, where she hikes daily in the shadow of Pikes Peak.
