Mike Hogan is an entrepreneur, father of three and the author of Teen Entreprenaire, and Tenacious: A Championship Mentality for Young Athletes. Mike has been a lover of athletics his entire life and has always had an entrepreneurial spirit. He began his business life by re-selling used golf balls to golfers at his public course and delivering newspapers. He was a 4-sport letterman in high school, earning team MVP and captain honors on each team. This led to a 4-year scholarship to college for golf, over his career he won numerous Junior and Collegiate golf tournaments. The natural next step was to turn professional after college. Despite a hectic personal life, he always managed to keep up his time in the gym, on the field and on the course.… Well, almost always! During his life he has developed a profound knowledge of business through; school, self-study and experience. His skills have allowed him to start multiple businesses in a wide range of industries, as well as, buying failing businesses, turning them around, and selling them for a profit. He points to his background in sports as the key to his success in business because building a great team, training, teaching coaching and motivating that team are keys to success in business. There was no doubt that when his firstborn arrived, life meant less time for his sports passion and a drop in his performance. Nevertheless, Mike had one thing that he could apply to his physical training to get back to his previous levels and beyond – Mental Toughness and Tenacity. As an entrepreneur, Mike has faced a number of setbacks, but managed to get back up every time with grit and resilience and by being Tenacious. Applying what he has learned in Sports and in Business has been a driving force in his success. Mike has used his tenacity to get to the next level and became an even better athlete, entrepreneur, boss and father. Seeing the benefits that mental toughness brought him, he wanted to make sure that his three sons developed the same grit and determination. He coached them in all youth sports but concentrated heavily on both golf and baseball, and they have won multiple championships and have been tournament and season MVP several times. What he is most proud of is that they have all been voted team captains over the years because of their leadership skills he has helped them develop. He made sure their mental toughness wasn’t just with their athletic abilities, but for all challenges he knew they would face in life including business. He takes great pride in what his children have achieved in sports and as teenage entrepreneurs. One of his sons created a comic book company where he wrote, illustrated, and sells his own comics. His twins created a non-profit business that takes second-hand baseball equipment to the poorest areas of the Dominican Republic. Something that not only thrills his native wife but also reinforces an invaluable lesson – young people can create inspirational solutions! Mike began sharing his financial management techniques with friends of his teens when he realized just how much of an impact this could make on other teenagers from further afield. His cutting-edge view of modern-day entrepreneurship is breaking the stale paradigms that create a range of misconceptions surrounding teens and financial success. His proven strategies enable teens to jumpstart financial freedom, avoid the typical pitfalls young adults face, and reduce financial insecurity – skills we all wish we had learned at that crucial age. When coupled with his research into mental toughness in sports, overcoming fears, visualization, mindfulness, and meditation, Mike has been able to guide his children, their friends and now you to be at the top of the game and to reach success – In sports and in Business. Today, Mike and his family continue to train together, have a laugh, and push each other, knowing that their determination can only lead to greater things.
