Mark Mitten was born in Texas and raised in Colorado. He is a member of the Western Writers of America, and is known for his western novels Sipping Whiskey in a Shallow Grave (2012) and the sequel, Hard To Quit (2017). Both were nominated for Peacemaker Awards. Mark has also written a modern day crime trilogy about a sheriff in a small, quirky Rocky Mountain town—Breck's Quandary (2019), Ghosts of the Past (2021), and A Time Between Times (2022). An experienced mountain climber, Mark has summited all 54 of Colorado’s highest peaks. He and his wife Mary currently reside in Idaho, where he continues to write and climb.
