Marie Wallace Munger grew up on a farm in Ohio with her three siblings, their mother and stepfather. It was a wholesome atmosphere of fresh air, spring water, fresh unprocessed food from the farm, farm chores and wonderful places to play on the property. The small community of good people had a Farmers' Grange, the social arm of farming, which the whole family enjoyed. The community also had a school that sported two classrooms and a music room. The children were nurtured and well-educated by good teachers in that school until the powers that be decided to close it and bus them much further away to a much bigger School. It was a culture shock for the sweet, shy farm children. The children's love of music was also nurtured early on by their mother mostly through singing and listening. The distance to school and finances made musical instruments, lessons and extra curricular activities prohibitive for four children. Marie and her sister, Lorraine, were able to participate after their two older brothers joined the Navy and finances improved. The sisters were close and had lots of fun in High School and at Church. They loved to harmonize and flirt with the boys. Marie became an RN, got married and worked 30 years as a nurse with time out for two wonderful sons. Most of her life Marie has tried to serve the Lord, though temporarily sidetracked at times. After a 'prodigal son' type of adventure, she turned back to the Lord and He helped her rescue herself from the hole she had dug. Then, He topped it off with a perfect man for her, Scott. They both love the Lord. They have been active in the local church wherever they have gone, starting in Connecticut where Scott's family and Marie were active before Scott arrived. What a wedding it was as Marie's youngest son kicked it off with playing The Prince of Denmark on his trumpet! The choir in which Marie and her new mother-in-law normally sang, included a song written by Marie for the wedding. Then the wedding reception at Scott's family's beautiful property and historic home which had served as a hospital during the Revolutionary War. When the sons went off to college, Marie and Scott were off to their next adventure through a year of misadventure in Arizona that the Lord used to set them up for a real adventure in California. They acquired a seven room bed and breakfast near Sequoia National Park. They worked hard to turn it into a work of art and a Haven for the weary traveler. They felt they could bless people more there than in their previous professions. Marie's penchant for painting was indulged to the max. In addition to painting the walls inside and out, she painted many murals inside and out of the B&B and on their church across the street. Marie wrote her first book in this setting, PLANTATION BRUNCH, with her gourmet recipes and Scott's beautiful photography of food and the lovely property they had developed. Now they are retired in the country of Panama. They have continued their practice of being active in the local church. Then, before the coronavirus hit, they started 'Gringo' Church in their home, using sing-along Christian YouTube videos and Joel Osteen as pastor. All six of the members loved it. Scott and Marie can't wait to restart it.
