Laura Henry-Allain MBE is an award-winning dyslexic international producer, storyteller, educationalist and consultant. She is the creator of the characters of the well-loved JoJo and Gran Gran series (the first Black British animation), which has been developed and produced by CBeebies, and she is the series’ associate producer. She is also executive producer on a few shows that are currently in development, including Daddio & Co. Her bestselling children's book, My Skin, Your Skin, illustrated by Onyinye Iwu, explores race and racism, and empowers children to be the best versions of themselves. Laura is currently writing three new children’s picture books, one of which is My Family, Your Family, which will be published in October 2023, one can pre-order this book. Her voluntary work includes mentoring several young people and supporting the Grenfell Memorial Quilt team. 11 years ago, Laura had to have 10 units of blood to save her life after major surgery went wrong. As a result, Laura is a big supporter of encouraging others to donate blood. Laura is the mother of two grown-up sons, one of whom is autistic. This is why she is able to speak from the heart so passionately on all issues relating to children, young people and their families, irrespective of the role that she works in. One of Laura’s key phases is: ‘Keep on trying and keep on smiling’! Follow the conversation on the socials.
