For over three decades, Karen has been a devoted student and teacher of Aikido, the Japanese art of reconciliation. Aikido finds power in position rather than force. Spiral Impact is grounded in these concepts. She holds a Nidan Blackbelt rank. Before establishing Spiral Impact, Valencic spent ten years working as a project engineer in product development at Delco Remy, a division of General Motors. She earned her BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tri-State University in Angola, IN. Karen served on the HealthCare Businesswomen Association (HBA) of Indiana Board as the Director of Mentoring. She is a past board member of Spotlight On Nursing, which raised funds for advanced degree nursing scholarships. She is also Past-President of the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development (now ATD), where she served on the board for six years, and a former adjunct faculty member with the Greenleaf Center for Servant Leadership, Roche Diagnostics, and IU Health. Karen has also been a mentor at the Butler University College of Business for six years and taught in their Honors program for eight years.
