Jo (Gius) Branco was born in Italy and grew up in Switzerland. Trained in chemistry and quality management, he has spent most of his professional life in the life sciences industry in Basel. He discovered his passion for writing relatively late and rather by chance. In his debut novel, Katie 42 - Intelligent, he combines his experience and interests in computer science, astronomy and biology with current themes such as artificial intelligence and climate change. He packs these core themes into a scientifically sound science fiction novel set in the near future, dealing with the biological evolution of life on Earth and the development of consciousness and intelligence. Having experimented with AI development software and being familiar with the subject, he is less concerned with philosophical aspects than with possible future developments.
