J. L. Askew is an award-winning author and a lifelong bibliophile. While earning a baccalaureate in psychology at the University of Memphis, Askew developed a love of writing which he put to good use both as a social worker and later as a field engineer in the medical industry. Askew conducted four years of research to finish his first book “War in the Mountains”, a history of his great-grandfather’s service in the Civil War. He was set to do a follow-up book when his twin brother convinced him to branch into fiction and “Alaska Deadly” was the result. The sequel “Alaska Bloodlust” is to be published in 2025. Askew keeps busy writing book reviews (seen on Goodreads), a blog, articles for the local newspaper, and drafting another novel. Previously in Memphis Tennessee, Askew relocated to Buena Vista in 2022 to be near his daughter Bethany and six grandchildren. His son Jon and youngest grandson live in Austin, Texas. Single and with no pets, Askew enjoys all aspects of writing, especially connecting with readers and sending out notes of thanks.
