Handel inspired by God to be a genius? Yes. Handel a saint? Definitely NOT! In this exciting debut novel you will meet the great composer as he really was and enter into his thoughts, his prayers, his love life, his spiritual life. Helen Dymond is a singer, musician and former Lecturer in Humanities who has both taught and written about Handel for more than forty years and has constructed the novel around historically-recorded events. She aims to inform and entertain the general reader with insights not merely about his life in London but also looking back to scenes from his earlier life in Germany and Italy. More broadly the novel follows a vibrant creator of beauty, now in his in its final years seeking to follow his inner voice and to make'one final creative utterance' which will embrace the fullest possible truth. Helen Dymond's third play FINDING HANDEL, on which this novel is based, is due to have its first professional Reading at Actors and Writers of London, The Polish Centre, in January 2022.
