The Decameron is one of the greatest literary works of the Middle Ages. Bernabo von Genua verliert durch Ambrogiuolos Betrug sein Vermögen und befiehlt, dass seine unschuldige Frau getötet werde. Sie entkommt und dient in Männerkleidern dem Sultan. Dann entdeckt sie den Betrüger und veranlasst Bernabo, nach Alexandrien zu kommen. Der Betrüger wird bestraft, und sie kehrt, wieder im Frauengewand, mit ihrem Manne reich nach Genua zurück.
