Church grew up in west Texas. Dogs, horses, brothers and cousins were all part of his early life. After retiring from the United States Marine Corps, Church taught high school social studies, and for many years served as an associate professor of political science. He holds graduate degrees in education and political Science. Currently, Church lives in Texas with his wife Paula, and his rescued English bulldogs.
