Emil Ostrovski is the author of two young adult novels, The Paradox of Vertical Flight and Away We Go; the German edition of Paradox was nominated for the Youth Jury category of the 2015 German Youth Literature Award. His short fiction has appeared in venues such as Lightspeed, The New Orleans Review, and Prism International. He received a Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Columbia University and was a 2015-2016 Lamda Literary fellow in young adult fiction, under the mentorship of Benjamin Alire Saenz. He lives in San Diego, where he teaches 5th grade, sometimes successfully.
