Doug Wilson is an accomplished marathon runner, motivational speaker and Kundalini Yoga teacher based in Melbourne, Australia. He has taught yoga and meditation to groups of students around the world, with a focus in the areas of drug rehabilitation, neurological conditions and mental health. Through his work, he aims to promote overall health and wellbeing and to help others to learn how to optimise the mechanics of the human body in order to thrive in the modern world. At the age of 31, Wilson was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumour and underwent a 14-hour operation. This caused extensive cranial nerve damage and left him with life-long complications, including single-sided deafness, loss of balance and permanent facial paralysis. During his recovery, Wilson battled surgically induced meningitis and had to learn to walk again. He also developed an addiction to pharmaceutical opioids and benzodiazepines. The story of how he overcame these challenges using diet, yoga and meditation is truly remarkable. Just over 12 months after his surgery, Wilson set a Guinness World Record by becoming the first person to run 7 competitive marathons on 7 continents in under 7 days. A few months later, he went on to achieve second place at the North Pole Marathon.
