Dorothy Dittrich is an award-winning playwright and musician. She has made her living in the theatre as a writer, composer, musical director and sound designer. Her most recent play “The Piano Teacher – A Healing Key” will be released in the spring of 2022, published by Talon Books. Dorothy holds a Master’s Degree in Liberal Studies and makes her home in Vancouver, Canada. Tippi & Stan began as a public reading in a cozy venue to an invited audience - a small event meant to amuse a few friends. Following the reading the requests began to come in for another episode. Soon four more episodes chronicling the lives of Tippi, a house cat, and Stan, a pigeon who lands on her window sill, were written. Tippi and Stan are unlikely friends but life has put them together and they have learned they have more in common than they ever would have imagined. The stories are funny and at times poignant. They are about all of us – our lives, loves, hurts, healings, flaws and defeats as well as our hopes and triumphs. As the synopsis says – 'Both absurd and very real, Tippi and Stan touches on those things that make life worth living.' I love writing Tippi and Stan – they make me laugh and I love to laugh. I also love reading their stories to an audience. It’s unexpected as I’m quite shy and don’t consider myself a performer but there is something about them, their friendship, the world they live in and describe, their observations, ups and downs and their community along with their ongoing quest to be exactly who they are, that I enjoy being part of. I hope you will feel the same.
