Dave is an ordinary monk and mystic who lives in the contemplative way even as he lives in the grit and beauty of downtown Indianapolis. A bird lover, poet, gardener, artist, musician and writer he seeks to live with gentle integrity, humor, creativity and love. Dave is a hospitable listener offering spiritual direction as well as vocational guidance to those who seek him out. Along with his wife of 40 year, Beth, he helps curate Fall Creek Abbey, an urban retreat house that invites others to return and be restored in their true self and their heart center. Content and curious, Dave’s perspectives are spun from an eclectic reservoir of thinkers and traditions; ranging from Saints Teresa, John and Benedict to Mathew Fox, Thomas Merton and Philip Newell. His intuitive mind ranges freely among Celtic spirituality, Eco-justice along with the dense material of dead mystics. In spite of these somewhat esoteric roots, Dave at heart is a simple, down to earth lover of God who is seeking to be faithful to that one particular life he has been given. Dave has four adult children, a growing tribe of grand-kids and a 14 year old Australian Shepherd, Bongo.
