Daniel D. Doty was born and raised in Clarion, Iowa. He was ordained into the Christian ministry in 1966, and has served several congregations in the United States and one in New Zealand. Pastor Doty’s inspiration for writing fiction was planted in his young mind by an elementary teacher and was put on the back burner until retirement when he began writing his debut novel, a mystery entitled Legacy of a Frozen Scream. Pastor Doty has written a new novel, Squire Jon and the Dragons. This book is for elementary school children. It is a fantasy story about a shepherd boy who slays a dragon on an ocean beach near his home. His success launches him on a career of fighting such monsters for King Charles and the kingdom of Tarakana. This book is the first in a series about Sir Jon, a knight who defends the farmers in his country against the dragons who periodically visit the kingdom to feast on livestock. The author is presently working on the second novel in the Sir Jon series at his home in Eureka, Illinois
