Christina Gustavson, PhD, MD, M.B and Ch.B., has written several self-help guides about managing mental health issues, all published by one of the biggest publishing houses in Sweden. Four of her books have been published in Swedish as "talking books" for the blind. She has also written several crime fiction novels and her books are being published in various formats like pocket, hardcover books, e-books and as audio books in Swedish. She has been a member of the Writers Guild of Sweden since 1993. Some of her works have been translated to English, a few to Dutch and German translations are on their way. In her books Christina Gustavson conveys her deep knowledge about and comprehensive experience of the mental suffering of various types that today afflicts many in our society. Her self-help books about Depressive disorders, Anxiety and compulsion, Asperger’s syndrome and about Psychopaths have been given a heightened interest. Through her research and her work as a Forensic psychiatrist she has a vast knowledge of psychopathy, psychopaths and sociopaths which find its expression in her crime novels. Her latest crime novel sold in 1009 copies in three days, which is extraordinary for a country with such a small population as Sweden. Christina Gustavson was born in Tranemo, a small village approx. 106 kilometers south-east of Gothenburg, Sweden. She has three medical specialties, eg. Specialist of Forensic Psychiatry, General psychiatry (adult), and Medicine (GP). Sub-specialties: Surgery, Pediatrics, and Child psychiatry. After several years of research in the field of Forensic Psychiatry she graduated at the Lund university and the topic of her PhD was Risk and Prediction of Violent Crime. Apart from working many years as a GP and within the field of Psychiatry, she was appointed the Director for a Forensic Psychiatry unit in the county of Värmland, Sweden, she carried out Forensic investigations at the request of the National Board of Forensic Medicine, worked with victims of crime, addicts, patients with so called double diagnosis, eg. patients with both a mental disturbance and addiction of some kind. She also worked with children and juveniles having mental problems. Furthermore Christina Gustavson worked as a consultant doctor at one of the Red Cross units for people with mental disorder as a result of torture or war and severe traumatic experiences. She has also lived, worked or studied for longer periods in Germany, Denmark and Norway. During several years she did developmental work in Africa, mainly in Ghana, and volunteered working for the NGO Help in Time Apart from her work as an author she takes a great interest in Human rights, global peace and she has been active within the Green party of Sweden being a member of the City Council of Falköping, Sweden, for some years. Furthermore she is interested in textile design and gardening. She is very fond of animals and apart from having been a keen horse rider she had several cats and dogs over the years.
