Catherine Evans brought up in Africa, one of a band of feral children who had no idea how lucky they were to have so much freedom. She worked in the City for 20 years before turning to writing and editing full time. Her first novel, The Wrong’un, was published by Unbound in 2018. She lost a publishing deal on her second, All Grown Up, which led directly to the birth of Inkspot Publishing, which she set up with Jurcell Virginia in 2022. She’s the Editor of fictionjunkies dot com, a website which publishes short stories of all genres by authors around the world. Her website is cathyevans dot com. Her pervasive themes are dysfunctional families, difficult relationships, guilt, shame, secrets and lies, particularly the ones we tell ourselves. She loves a twisted tree and a blasted heath, but always chucks in a bit of humour amidst the heartbreak. She lives in Oxfordshire in a multigenerational household with her two dogs, Molly and Bear. Her strange addiction is collecting live-in relatives.
