Camilla Gibb was born in London, England, and grew up in Toronto. She has a Ph.D. in social anthropology from Oxford University for which she conducted research in Ethiopia. In 2000, she made the leap and became a full-time writer. Camilla is the author of three novels, numerous short stories, articles and reviews. She was nominated for Canada's highest literary honour, the Giller Prize, in 2005, and won the City of Toronto Book Award in 2000 and the CBC Canadian Literary Award for short fiction in 2001. Her books have been published in 19 countries and translated into 15 languages and she was named by the jury of the prestigious Orange Prize as one of 21 writers to watch in the new century. Camilla currently lives in Toronto, where she serves as Vice President of PEN Canada and Writer-in-Residence at the University of Toronto.
