His journey continued, as a distinguished and decorated CIVMAR with Military Sealift Command in support of the Enduring Freedom Operation, and later as a civilian member of the US Merchant Marine. Along the way, Ro unraveled the intricacies of numerous foreign languages and cultures, imbuing his writing with a depth born of firsthand introspection and worldly exploration.
