Bill Evans is Senior Meteorologist for Channel 7 Eyewitness News and is the popular 12-time Emmy Award winning weather anchor for Eyewitness News This Morning and Eyewitness News at Noon. Bill also forecasts the weather on WPLJ-FM Radio's Scott & Todd in the Morning in New York and on WGCH Business Talk Radio in Greenwich, CT as well as for the ABC Radio Network and ESPN Radio. He often fills in for Sam Champion on ABC News' Good Morning America, and has appeared on LIVE! with Regis and Kelly, ESPN Sports Center, the Discovery Channel's How Stuff Works and Martha Stewart Radio. Before joining the Eyewitness News team in 1989, Bill was a Meteorologist at WFAA-TV in Dallas and morning show host for KHYI-FM Radio there. Before that he was Meteorologist for WALA-TV in Mobile, AL and was radio morning show host for Mobile's WABB-FM Radio. Bill began his broadcasting career at the age of 13 in his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi as a DJ on WDAL Radio and WTOK-TV, where he presented his first weathercast. Bill is no stranger to the sound and fury of hurricanes. Growing up in Mississippi, he experienced first-hand the awesome power of Hurricane Camille, one of the most powerful and destructive hurricanes in America's history. He turned his interest in the causes and effects of severe weather into a career after earning a BA from Mississippi State University and a degree in Meteorology from Jackson State University. He also holds a degree from Sussex Community College. In 1985, Bill was awarded the prestigious broadcast Seal of Approval from The American Meteorological Society and has been honored by The National Weather Service as "Outstanding Meteorologist." Bill was recently awarded "Doctor of Humane Letters" from Dowling College, Oakdale, NY. Bill is best known for his energetic and entertaining live weather broadcasts on location all over the Tri-State area, where he's played tennis with Venus and Serena Williams and basketball with Patrick Ewing, ice skated with Olympic gold medal winner Christie Yamaguci and golfed with Tiger Woods. He's played hockey with the NY Rangers, NJ Devils and NY Islanders, driven NASCAR and INDY cars, gone bungee jumping and sky diving, and been flying with the Blue Angels and USAF Thunderbirds. He's forecast the weather while water skiing the Hudson and East Rivers around Manhattan and gone swimming with dolphins, sharks, seals, sea lions and whales. He's also reported the weather just hanging out in his own back yard! When he's not forecasting the weather, Bill is a New York Times Best Selling Author for his novel "Category 7," a techno-thriller about a hurricane bound for New York City. His other works include "Frozen Fire," "Dry Ice" and a weather book for kids titled, "It's Raining Fish & Spiders", set for bookstores on April 24th, 2012 and his 4th novel "Blackmail Earth" is set for release on June 19th, 2012. Bill has appeared on the New York stage, playing himself in "The Radio City Christmas Spectacular" at Radio City Music Hall. He's also appeared on Broadway as the candlestick "Lumier" in Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." He has performed stand-up comedy on "The Punch Line Circuit," "Comedy Nation" and "Dangerfield's." He is a member of the Friars Club and The Washington Speaker's Bureau. A true believer in the importance of community service, Bill is a board member of Leak and Watts Family and Children's Services of the Bronx and Yonkers. He's also an avid supporter and fund raiser for such children's charities as Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital at Columbia Presbyterian, Special Olympics of New York, the National Young Adult Institute, Junior Achievement of NY and CT, Kids in Crisis of Greenwich, CT, Ronald McDonald House, Juvenile Diabetes of NY, CT and NJ, Mt. Vernon Hospital and Boy Scouts of America. He also raises funds for The Red Cross of New York and New Jersey, Crohns and Colitis of New York, the Simon Malls Youth Foundation, the Silver Shield of Greenwich, CT and the YMCA and YWCA of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Bill also hosts the annual "Bill Evans Celebrity Golf Classic" to raise money in the fight against breast cancer, benefitting Breast Cancer, Inc. of Long Island. Bill, his wife Dana (aka "Mrs. Weather") and their four children make their home in Connecticut.
