Bette Dam is an investigative journalist who lived and worked for 15 years in Afghanistan; for her latest book 'Looking for the Enemy' ('21) she had unprecedented access to the Taliban and shines a new light on who they are. Her research shows how peace -opportunities were missed, and how this let inevitebely to an unnecessary war. “We critique political actors like Taliban and the US for the endless war. But too often we overlook the role we, Western media, have in wars like in Afghanistan”, she says. Dam her work was covered worldwide. She works at Sciences Po where she teaches about Afghanistan.
