Bee Bloeser is an award-winning writer and a public speaker. She has lived in West Africa, the Middle East and Native American nations, and has supported her late husband’s public health work on five continents. She knows first hand the thrill of the world-wide victory over smallpox. She knows both the joys of a life in global health and the stress of life on a tightrope under a brutal dictatorship. After her husband’s passing, his extensive personal archives of letters, tape letters, cables, government reports (unclassified) and film, compelled Bloeser to tell the story—through public speaking and through her award-winning historical memoir, Vaccines & Bayonets: Fighting Smallpox in Africa amid Tribalism, Terror and the Cold War. Bloeser has been a USAID Alumni Associate and is a member of Toastmasters International, the Association for Women in Communications, PEO, authors’ groups and her church. She loves spending time with family and friends and can be found having fun with the dogs and cats in her charge. She's still in love with Africa. Note: Knowing first-hand the multitude of problems resulting from the lack of safe water, Bloeser dedicates a percentage of net proceeds from her book and speaking engagements to supporting water wells for Africa.
