Béatrice Collin is Professor of Strategy and International Management at ESCP Business School, where she was Dean of the Faculty from 2014 to 2017. She has also taught at the University of Paris II and has been Visiting Professor at Cornell University (U.S.) and City University (UK). Since 2016, Collin has been a member of the Board of Directors of the École des Arts et Métiers Paris Tech (ENSAM). Her teaching and research focus on international companies, their strategy, their governance, and their distinctive management issues, particularly in relation to cultural diversity. Collin works with large and medium-sized companies that are successfully leading their globalization process. She has also developed a recognized expertise in digital innovation and transformation, topics on which she regularly lectures in executive seminars. She has recently created a series of online modules on digital transformation for executives of large European and international firms looking for the key elements of reflection and action to succeed in the new digital age. For more than twenty-five years, Collin has designed and run executive seminars for international companies interested in preparing their leaders (and future leaders) for the major changes and challenges of today’s—and tomorrow’s—world, be it digitalization, multipolarity, or the circular and sustainable economy. With a triple specialty in management, international economics, and political science, Collin is a graduate of the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris and completed her doctoral studies jointly with the Department of Economics and the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University, New York. She is a member, reviewer, and session chairperson of the Academy of Management, a member of EIASM (European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management), and a founding member of EURAM (European Academy of Management). In 2017, Collin received the insignia of “Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite” from the French government. Béatrice Collin has worked with and studied L’Oréal for many years. Her relationship with L’Oréal led to her book, coauthored in 2009 with Daniel Rouach, Le Modèle L’Oréal, in which she explored the key strategies of the French multinational company. On the heels of the book’s success, Collin has become a media expert on L’Oréal. She has given dozens of interviews in the French (print, radio, and television) and international media (BBC, The Guardian, La Tribune de Genève, The International Herald Tribune, and more) and contributed to various documentaries on L’Oréal. These opportunities led her to the idea for a second book, coauthored with Jean-François Delplancke and published by Dunod in 2015, L’Oréal, la beauté de la stratégie. The book was launched at ESCP Europe in the presence of L’Oréal CEO Jean-Paul Agon and other Executive Committee members. Over more than twenty-five years, Beatrice Collin has built an in-depth knowledge of L’Oréal, its evolution, strategy, and identity, by forging strong links with the management teams while maintaining the objective stance of a researcher and observer.
