B.O.U.Q.U.I, Bukola Folayan was born to HRH OBA (prof) Ololade Folayan 1st, a professor of Biochemistry and a professional teacher mother, and grew up in an academic environment of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, which influenced her deep lyrical style and cosmopolitan outlook. Her Christian faith and strong belief in God's words, on the other hand, are at the heart of the Bouqui brand. Bouqui, a seasoned broadcaster, began her professional career as the founder of the all-girl group G-Vibes before going solo and changing her focus and style to suit urban contemporary Nigeria while still delivering in terms of message and emotion. She moved to the United States of America and attended school in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. She has 5 albums to her name and several awards for her contributions to the music industry and the gospel community as a whole. She is the creator of BOUQUI'S Place, a radio and television show, and currently serves as the Youth Pastor at VCF in Delaware.
