Axel Melzener got his start in the media world as a teenage composer of computer game soundtracks. He went on to study film at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and has been working as a screenwriter for television and cinema for 20 years. He has written episodes for series such as "Highway Police" and "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction," co-created the ZDFneo series "Darktown," and wrote the screenplay for the animated film "Birds of a Feather," for which Kate Winslet and Willem Dafoe provided the English voices. He also writes non-fiction books on storytelling and novels, and is a guest lecturer at film schools in Germany and abroad. He lives in Cologne, Germany.
