I'm the author of more than forty travel guides for major UK and US travel publishers, and four novels - The J-Word (2009, 2018); The Slave (2013); Love (2015); and The Unknown Mrs Rosen (2020). ------------------- THE UNKNOWN MRS ROSEN is the story of a spy, but this is no ordinary spy story. Told in two parallel threads, Mrs Rosen is a helpless elderly woman and at the same time a younger woman outstandingly capable and courageous. While her middle-aged children argue over her care and struggle to deal with social services, Marjorie Rosen is reliving an unspoken life of devotion to duty, of espionage, betrayal and violence – about which they know nothing and must never find out. ------------------- LOVE is a vivid road trip through the hippy years. 19-year-old flower-child Simon is drawn from his native London to San Francisco. There he falls under the spell of Angela and enters into her world of wealth, rock stars and the good life. But Angela wants only to return to her former lover Jesse, who has made India his home. Together Angela and Simon set out on a long journey to the East, but nothing turns out as either of them hoped or imagined. ------------------- THE SLAVE, a tense action drama, looks at issues of trafficking, prostitution and the law through the lives of three people in a north London neighbourhood. Neil is a young loner who works as a van driver; Bernard is a respectable lawyer, practising Jew and pillar of the local community; Liliana is being kept captive in a room nearby and forced to work as a prostitute. When Neil becomes Liliana's client, she asks Neil to help her escape - and he is willing to do anything at all to free her. ------------------- THE J-WORD tells the story of an elderly Jewish man, Jack Silver, beaten up by an antisemitic gang. Together with his 10-year-old grandson Danny, he sets out to outwit and track down the thugs and bring them to justice in his own way. Jack is not religious and long ago repudiated everything Jewish. But the hunt takes Jack into memories of his childhood and the two unlikely heroes discover a shared identity spanning generations that eventually draws the whole family together. First published in 2009, THE J-WORD has featured at London's Jewish Book Week and the Hampstead & Highgate Literary Festival, and was widely reviewed in the UK. This new edition was published in in 2018.
