How better to get to know a person than read their innermost thoughts? Meet Amy Hsuan Chiu, poet, artist, designer, polyglot and bunny doll collector. She turns her daily emotions into poetry to be shared with others, displays her artwork at shows around town, speaks four languages (and is learning a fifth), and refuses to grow up. Chiu loves reminiscing about her childhood memories in Hawaii and staying up all night writing — or, as she puts it, being "swallowed up by the written words." Chiu believes that poetry is a deeply personal experience; something she uses to heal from certain emotions and as a way to deal with various difficulties. In her first book, REBORN: To Heal. To Believe. To Love., Chiu explores the merging of darkness vs. light and reality vs. dream. The author faces each day with a smile and each person with a friendly greeting. Her outgoing nature and people skills have helped her adapt to the fluctuations of life. Graduating from the University of Washington with degrees in Creative Writing and Visual Arts, Ms. Chiu has now turned attention to travel; seeking international inspiration.
