What Remains

Kit Easton had struggled her entire life. Things couldn't possibly have gotten any worse for her...until the day they did. Her mother was dying, her husband had long ago become the enemy, they were down to their last dime, and her daughter had distanced herself to avoid everyone and everything. When Kit's sister takes their mother to New York for what is supposed to be a revolutionary, life-saving cure, a disaster no one could have predicted strikes. But it isn't just Kit's family that is affected, it rocks the entire world.

With nearly everyone either dead or diseased, Kit and her daughter must do whatever they can to avoid the highly contagious virus. Desperate to find Polly, Kit and her daughter decide to strike out in search of answers. The pair doesn't make it far before their lives are threatened. Filled with fear, worry, and desperation, Kit will have to do whatever it takes to keep her daughter safe.

Back on the road after suffering a great loss, the group is more determined than ever to make it to their final destination. They have all the food and water they need but when they realize they are being followed, things take an unexpected, life-threatening turn. Desperate to avoid being captured, the group will need to make a decision that could risk everything and put them directly in harm's way. All while the sick want nothing more than to spread their wretched life-ending disease.

Kit and the others continue to struggle as they work to survive in their search for Polly. They are so close to finding out if she's alive or if like many others she'd succumbed to the virus. Before they can get back on the road after a brief rest following the loss of one of their own, they run into a stranger who could be the key in finding Polly. Or will he be another thing the group needs to fear?
