What Happens in Roswell... Summary

Seven years ago Andrew Wesman, a retired Navy SEAL and widower, was looking forward to a relaxing day off-roading in the mountains. He got a bit farther off-road than he intended. Now he's returned home - that is, back to Earth. He has become part of a group known as Watchers, responsible for mitigating disputes, and it seems that the large mixed population of aliens living on Earth want recognition. Humans, on the other hand, have no idea there really are aliens on their planet.

This should be simple. He grew up on Earth, but it is not the world he remembers. He is able to see the aliens that mingle daily, unnoticed by the human population. While getting reacquainted with his family, he finds himself gaining additional alien allies as well as responding to a group intent on destroying him. Finally he is surprised to learn that the yearly celebration in Roswell, New Mexico, is actually the yearly conclave of the varied alien groups. Roswell turns out to be the beginning of a life-and-death struggle for him and his planetary home.

Andrew, as a Watcher, is not lacking in resources. To help him resolve these human versus alien issues, he has an ancient interstellar warship rumored to have destroyed several planets when its AI had a nervous breakdown. He also has a drop-dead gorgeous bodyguard who recently began insisting she is his fiancée. He soon finds himself surrounded by a core group of diverse individuals intent on keeping him safe and alive. So all he has to do is face an attacking fleet and decide how to break the news to the humans that they are not alone. If all else fails, he still has the assistance of his imaginary friend from childhood.... Looks like just another day in paradise.
