The Shadyside Chronicles

Linda Kelleher, or Lilou, faces a dilemma. She is a regular Pittsburgh girl, growing up in the beautiful Shadyside neighborhood. She looks up to her older sister, tries to meet her mothers expectations and loves to study math with her father. Only something is never quite right. No matter how hard she tries to lead a regular life, the world of sorcery and magic has a claim on her: Lilou comes from a powerful family of witches.

After choosing accounting over witchcraft, Lilou is finally at peace. She earnestly leads a normal life: she is a wife, a mother, and an ambitious employee at a prestigious firm, trying to break the glass ceiling. Only the occult is all around her. During a moment of crisis, Lilou meets a domovoy, a hobgoblin who lives in her home and claims to protect her from harm.

Lilou is a witch. Now what? Having been initiated into the craft by her French grandmother, Lilou returns to Pittsburgh without a plan. Magic is of little help when dealing with a divorce. Nor does it help in her everyday job as an accountant. The only lifeline to her magical abilities is Josh, Lilou’s house-elf or a domovoy, as he likes to be called. Josh leads Lilou on a journey of self-discovery and helps her understand the parallel universe of household helpers.
