When Headmistress Alleva arrives on campus, my life at Headquarters is thrown upside down. After sightings of werewolves close to Guild boundaries have everyone up in arms, recruits are thrust into apprenticeships with prominent teams to help move along graduation rates and get them into the field as soon as possible.

I finally have everything I've always wanted: I'm part of a team with my brother and best friend, I'm spending my free time on missions hunting down monsters, and I'm about to turn nineteen, the age we fully come into our power. But it all still just feels empty. After last month's disaster, the members of Team Six abandoned Guild Headquarters, leaving me alone to deal with the crippling shame for my part in the events that night. And I can't say that I blame them.

Team Six and I have finally found our ticket into Hell. But the journey to cashing it will be anything but easy, and every decision along the way will come with a sacrifice . . . sacrifices we might not be willing to make. Darius's creepy brother, Claude, is determined to push us out of his city as soon as possible. And, oh man, are we ready to leave. But, unfortunately for us, hitching a ride to hell will have to wait.

Captured and alone in a place that looks like it was pulled straight out of a medieval movie, I'm desperate to get back to The Guild and my family. But not before getting what I came here for: Wade. Hell might not be all fire and brimstone like I had imagined it to be, but sometimes reality is worse. Way worse. The members of Six and I have been separated with no concrete way of getting back to each other. But even if I could find a way back to them, I'm not entirely sure that I want to. While hell demons are certainly awful, the monster raging inside of me is proving to be just as haunting.

With threats of an apocalypse looming over our heads, Six and I travel back to The Guild. But when we get there, the arrival of some new faces complicates our mission. And if any of them find out that we're more than the protectors we're pretending to be . . . we're royally screwed. As if that's not enough, my nifty new powers keep hopping into action when I least expect them to. If I don't get them under control soon, we'll stand no chance at winning this battle. The key to stabilizing them? Well, let's just say it might require me to figure out exactly what I want from the members of Six.

The balance between good and evil is impossible to maintain when neither exist anymore . . . We've been fed lies all of our lives, so now it's up to me and the rest of my team to uncover the truth.
